Alright, good to be back. On this occasion, Im going to provide the information that are commonly discussed in Sociolinguistic field. Briefly, see the followings;
INTRODUCTION TO SOCIOLINGUISTICS
Before going to the further discussion regarding Sociolinguistic, I would like to firstly provide some related aspects to Sociolinguistic, as follows:
- Phonetics is the study of speech sound.
- Phonology is the study of sound system of languages.
- Syntax is the study of how words are combined to form sentences and rules which govern the formation of sentences.
- Semantics is the study of meanings.
- Morphology is the study of morphemes and the way they combine in word formation.
Basically, Sociolinguistics is the study of language in relation to social factors such as social class, educational level, and type of education, age, sex, as well as ethnic origin.
Further, Sociolinguistics is a branch of linguistics which studies all aspects of the relationship between language and society. It is the study of the interplay of linguistics, social, and cultural factors in human communication (Nessa Wolfson, 1989).
Sociolinguists study such matters as the linguistic identity of social groups, social attitudes towards language, standard and nonstandard forms of language, the patterns and needs of national language use, social varieties and levels of language, the social basis of multilingualism and so forth.
